It is no secret that millions of animals are euthanized each year--or that thousands of animals regularly suffer from neglect and violent abuse. What seems to be a secret is how to curb the tide of unwanted, abused and abandoned animals flowing into humane societies and shelters.
ARK Online provides both educational outreach about animal welfare issues and vital networking opportunities for humane organizations. Do we have an agenda? Yes. Although we are not affiliated with any animal welfare organization, we support many of the goals of the humane movement.
Simply put, we believe that animals deserve respect, compassion and responsible treatment from humankind.
Our goal is to educate and motivate a broad base of readers--to keep the general and activist reader alike informed about and involved in the plight of animals. "Involved" can have many meanings, of course. We at Ark Online believe the person who adopts and cares for a cat from their local shelter is just as involved in the plight of animals as is the person who works to stop bear poaching in the Oregon wilderness.
What we are hoping for is a company or foundation that would be willing to sponsor us by providing some combination of office space, funding and equipment so that we can continue to produce ARK. So far we have relied on personal savings and the kindness of strangers and friends alike.
